Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before you in the name of Jesus. First, we thank you for your loving kindness. We thank you for your justice and mercies. You love us. You love the Jew and the Gentile alike. You love the woman and the man. You love your people. There is no injustice in you. You are a balanced God; of balanced scales. There is no folly in you. Thank you for integrity. May we follow in your ways. May we attempt to be like our Heavenly Daddy. May we walk in your ways. Talk like you talk. You gave us Jesus as an example. God in the flesh. An example of holiness. The road to the Father. Thank you. There is no folly in you. In Jesus name. Amen.

Thank you Father God for being so very awesome. I’ve experienced your protection, peace, favor, bountiful blessings, ……… I know that “You Are.” I know that You can do all things and I know that You will. The song says, ” If He did it before, He can do it again. Same God right now. Same God back then.” Thank You for being my best friend. My Best Friend. Thank You. In Jesus name. Amen.

The internet has been full of jubilation and despair in the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision legalizing same-sex marriage across the US, and this is certainly true for Catholics as well. Some Catholics are rejoicing in this historic moment, seeing a major step forward for justice, human dignity, and mercy. Others are deeply disappointed, believing the Supreme Court has redefined marriage in a way that will undermine the family and human flourishing. For some Catholics, however, it’s a bit more complicated.

Two pieces caught my eye that reflect on the tensions some millennial Catholics feel when it comes to figuring out how to reconcile devotion to the Church and the love we have for our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters.
